Overnight Ramp Closures On I-66 Next Week At Route 28, Route 50, And I-495 Interchanges
FAIRFAX, Va. - Closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours beginning Monday, March 11, through Wednesday, March 13, on the ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North. There will also be overnight closures on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, on the ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West, and from eastbound I-66 to both the northbound and southbound I-495 Express Lanes. Closures are needed for construction activities for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Details include:
Monday, March 11, through Wednesday, March 13: Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
- The ramp from eastbound I-66 to northbound Route 28 will be closed during the overnight hours of Monday, March 11; Tuesday, March 12; and Wednesday, March 13, between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead light removal. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14: Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
- The ramp from westbound Route 50 to westbound I-66 will be closed during the overnight hours of Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, between midnight and 4 a.m. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, then directed to stay to the right for Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14: Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 Express Lanes North and South
- The ramp from eastbound I-66 to both northbound and southbound I-495 Express Lanes is scheduled to close during the overnight hours of Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, between midnight and 4 a.m. This closure is needed to place concrete barrier for long-term work zone set up. Traffic will be directed to use the I-495 general purpose lanes.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
