Nighttime Detour at Quaker Lane near Shirlington This Week, December 2-4
Detour needed for noise wall construction related to 395 Express Lanes
FAIRFAX, Va. - Motorists are advised that part of Quaker Lane near I-395 will be closed and detoured during nighttime hours starting tonight, Monday, December 2 through Wednesday night, December 4. These closures are needed for crews to work on a new noise wall, as part of the I-395 Express Lanes Northern Extension Project. Work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
During this work, crews will close northbound Quaker Lane from Preston Road to Shirlington Circle beginning each night at 10 p.m. Quaker Lane will reopen to traffic each morning by 5 a.m. During the closure, there will be a signed detour route available to drivers following Preston Road and Martha Custis Drive.
The 395 Express Lanes, which involve extending the current express lanes eight miles north to the D.C. line, opened on Nov. 17. Learn how Express Lanes work and how to get an E-ZPass at www.expresslanes.com.
The 395 Express Lanes are a public-private partnership between the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Transurban. See more details on the project and related lane closures.
