Lane Closures, Periodic Stoppages On I-66 East Next Week For Overhead Sign Removal
FAIRFAX - Drivers can expect overnight lane closures and periodic stoppages due to overhead gantry removal on eastbound I-66 between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 243 (Nutley Street), and west of Route 29 Centreville next week.
Details include:
Tuesday, Dec. 3: Eastbound I-66 between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Blake Lane
- Two right lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead gantry support removal.
Wednesday, Dec. 4: Eastbound I-66 between Bull Run Rest Area and Cub Run
- Three right lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead gantry support removal.
Thursday, Dec. 5 and Friday, Dec. 6: Eastbound I-66 Between Bull Run Rest Area and Compton Road
- Three right lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead gantry support removal.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
