WATCH FOR FREEZING ON ROADS OVERNIGHT
Lynchburg, Va. – VDOT’s Lynchburg District wants to remind motorists of the risk for freezing on roadways from today’s weather. There is a lot of moisture on the roads and temperatures will be falling throughout the night. That could make for slick conditions overnight and on your morning commute. VDOT crews are monitoring road conditions and will treat roads wherever they see a threat of ice forming.
When driving in such conditions, it is best to allow extra time to reach your destination and keep extra distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. If you do hit a patch of ice, it is best to press lightly on the brakes and turn into the direction you wish to travel. Pressing the brakes too hard could cause you to lose control of the vehicle.
As this is Super Bowl Sunday, VDOT also wants to remind everyone of the importance of not drinking and driving – or using a designated driver.
