WEIGHT LIMIT REDUCED ON ROUTE 57 BANISTER RIVER BRIDGE
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The weight limit on the Route 57 (Halifax Road) bridge over Banister River, Pittsylvania County will be reduced to 24 tons due to deterioration found during a routine inspection.
Engineers with the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Lynchburg District Structure and Bridge section are assessing the damage and developing plans for repairs.
This portion of Route 57 carries approximately 1300 vehicles per day.
