VDOT SETS ROUTE 131, APPOMATTOX, PUBLIC HEARING DATE

LYNCHBURG – Citizens interested in the reconstruction of Route 131, Old Courthouse Road in the Town of Appomattox are encouraged to attend a Location and Design Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 8 from 4-6 pm at VDOT’s Appomattox Residency Office, 331 Ferguson Street in Appomattox.

The purpose of the project is to improve safety and drainage and consists of reconstructing the roadway, addressing drainage issues, constructing a shared use path for pedestrian/bicyclist travel and adding lighting and landscaping. The project begins at US 460 Business and ends north of Route 1014, a distance of approximately .45 miles.  

The approximately $11.5 million project will be advertised for construction in October 2022 and is expected to be completed by December 2023.
