LYNCHBURG DISTRICT ROAD CONDITIONS
Overnight storms result in road closures
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Storms yesterday evening and into the overnight hours have closed several roads in VDOT’s Lynchburg District.
As of 9 am, a downed tree on VA 47 at all lanes closed at Route 709 in Charlotte County.
In Halifax County, there was a tree down on VA 92 near the Halifax/Charlotte County line, as well as trees down on Route 652 near VA 360 and Route 887 near VA 96. Route 739 near Route 603 is flooded and Route 650 near Route 603 is passable with care.
Route 653 near US 29S in Nelson County and VA 41 near Route 865 in Pittsylvania County are passable with care.
There are no closures reported in Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Cumberland and Prince Edward counties.
Additional storms are possible this afternoon. Motorists should be alert to rapidly changing weather and road conditions.
