OVERNIGHT ROUTE 3 WESTBOUND RAMP TO CLOSE IN FERRY FARM AREA OF STAFFORD
Traffic will detour 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly next week starting Sunday, Jan. 8 for crews to repair joints on the ramp
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Route 3 westbound flyover ramp in Stafford County's Ferry Farm area to the Blue and Gray Parkway in Fredericksburg will be closed overnight this upcoming week, starting Sunday, Jan. 8.
The ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., through the evening of Thursday, Jan. 12 into early Friday, Jan. 13.
Westbound Route 3 travelers seeking to access the Blue and Gray Parkway can choose from several detour routes, depending on their vehicle type.
Passenger vehicles can make a U-turn from Route 3 westbound to Route 3 eastbound at the Route 606 (Ferry Road) intersection. From Route 3 eastbound, travelers can access the Blue and Gray Parkway on-ramp.
Trucks are advised to use the following detour route, which will be posted:
- Route 212 (Chatham Heights Road
- Route 218 (Butler Road/White Oak Road)
- Route 607 (Cool Springs Road)
- Route 3 eastbound
Real-time updates on the ramp closure will be available on 511Virginia. Work has been scheduled to occur weather permitting.
Message boards will be activated ahead of the work zone to alert travelers to the ramp closure dates and times, and detour.
Maintenance crews are closing the ramp to repair joints, smoothing the ride for motorists while addressing spot deterioration.
