I-95 NORTHBOUND CLOSED IN STAFFORD
All northbound lanes closed at exit 140 (Courthouse Road) for multiple crashes; Traffic detours at exit 140 to Route 1 as alternate route

UPDATE (4:55 p.m.) -- All lanes of I-95 northbound have reopened at exit 140 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County following earlier crashes. 

UPDATE (4:20 p.m.) -- Two lanes of I-95 northbound have reopened at exit 140 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County following earlier crashes. The on-ramp from Courthouse Road to I-95 northbound is now open. A single lane of I-95 northbound lanes remain closed.

UPDATE (3 p.m.) -- A single lane of I-95 northbound has reopened at exit 140 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County following earlier crashes. Detour is being lifted. The on-ramp from Courthouse Road to I-95 northbound will remain closed at this time for ongoing crash response. Two I-95 northbound lanes remain closed.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Interstate 95 northbound is closed at exit 140 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County for multiple crashes just north of the interchange area.

Northbound traffic is being detoured from I-95 at exit 140 onto eastbound Courthouse Road/Hospital Center Boulevard, which connects with Route 1.

Interstate travelers can travel along Route 1 northbound to re-enter I-95 northbound at exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville).

Traffic signal timings along the detour route are being adjusted to accomodate heavier traffic volumes.

Motorists can expect significant northbound travel delays on I-95, Route 1 northbound in Stafford, and on intersecting routes in this area.
