EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS ON NORRIS BRIDGE ON WEDNESDAY, FEB. 2
Between 9 a.m. and noon, Route 3 over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties will be reduced to a single lane for bridge maintenance
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 3 travelers can expect major delays crossing the Robert O. Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
Route 3 will be reduced to a single lane on the bridge for several hours, to allow crews to perform routine maintenance work.
Between 9 a.m. and noon Wednesday, motorists will be restricted to one lane on the bridge. A pilot truck will be used to guide drivers across the structure one direction at a time.
Flagging crews will be positioned at each bridge approach to stop traffic while a pilot truck leads traffic from the opposing direction.
The Norris Bridge connects Lancaster and Middlesex counties.
Message boards will be posted today, Jan. 31, to give drivers advance warning to Wednesday’s work zone.
Lane closures have been scheduled weather permitting. Real-time updates on traffic, lane closures, incidents and work zones are available on 511virginia.org. Travelers can also download the free mobile 511Virginia app, or call 511 from any phone in Virginia.
