FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advises overnight travelers to expect delays on Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area for Improve 95 construction.
Bridge beam installation for the future flyover at the exit 148 (Quantico) interchange in Stafford County for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project will continue this week. The work will detour all I-95 northbound traffic near exit 143 (Garrisonville Road) to the Express Lanes between 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tolls will not apply to drivers routed onto the Express Lanes during this time.
Multiple work zones will have I-95 northbound and southbound reduced to one lane at various points between exit 126 (Spotsylvania) to exit 148.
Final paving activities as part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project near exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg are anticipated to wrap up this week.
VDOT encourages drivers with destinations outside the Fredericksburg area to consider alternate routes to avoid major delays.
Before starting a trip, motorists should check 511Virginia.org to find real-time updates on work zones and traffic conditions.
