Expect overnight delays on I-95 with double lane closures and full traffic stops scheduled in the Fredericksburg area
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Overnight travelers on Interstate 95 should expect delays with double lane closures and full traffic stops scheduled this week in the Fredericksburg area to build a better ride on I-95 as part of the Improve 95 construction program.
Additionally, the I-95 Northbound Safety Rest Area in Ladysmith will be closed tonight, Sept. 7 and Wednesday, Sept. 8, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. to allow crews to safely mill and pave the rest area’s ramps and merge areas.
Starting at 11 p.m. tonight, I-95 southbound will be reduced to one lane between exit 126 (Spotsylvania) and exit 118 (Thornburg) in Spotsylvania County followed by intermittent full traffic stops. Crews will stop all southbound traffic near mile marker 125 to safely move a crane across the travel lanes as construction progresses on the Route 17 (Mills Drive) overpass replacement project.
The full traffic stops will only occur between midnight and 3 a.m. tomorrow, Sept. 8. Each stop may last up to 30 minutes at a time. Virginia State Police will assist crews with traffic control.
