ROUTE 17 NORTHBOUND FULL TRAFFIC STOP IN STAFFORD SET FOR EARLY FRIDAY
All Route 17 northbound traffic near I-95 will be stopped between midnight and 3 a.m. early Friday, Jan. 15 to allow crews move a crane into the median
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 17 northbound travelers may experience overnight delays tomorrow night, Jan. 14 into early Friday, Jan. 15 to allow crews move a crane into the median near Interstate 95 exit 133 interchange in Stafford County.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, the left lane on Route 17 northbound between Short Street and Sanford Drive will close to get equipment into place ahead of the full traffic stop.
All Route 17 northbound traffic will be stopped up to 30 minutes between midnight and 3 a.m. early Friday, Jan. 15 to move the crane across the travel lanes to the median as construction progresses on the future I-95 southbound bridge over Route 17 as part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.
Weather permitting, lane closures on Route 17 northbound are scheduled at the following times:
Thursday, Jan. 14 – Friday, Jan. 15
• 7 p.m. – 11:59 p.m. – Single lane closure
• Midnight to 3 a.m. – Full traffic stop up to 30 minutes
• 3 – 6 a.m. – Single lane closure
• 6 a.m. – All lanes open
A message board will be posted along Route 17 northbound to alert motorists to delays ahead.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control in the work zone.
