Wednesday, Aug. 11 4:10 p.m. UPDATE: The Fredericksburg Extension project team building the 10-mile extension of the Express Lanes has adjusted tonight’s work zone schedule. There will be no double lane closures on I-95 northbound or southbound overnight near the Exit 148 (Quantico) interchange. 

Weather permitting, lane closures on I-95 are now scheduled as the following times:

Wednesday, Aug. 11 – Thursday, Aug. 12

• I-95 Northbound at Exit 104 (Carmel Church) and Exit 110 (Ladysmith)
  • 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. –  Mobile operation with double lane closure for milling and paving

• I-95 Northbound and Southbound at Exit 126 (Spotsylvania)
  • 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. – Single lane closure for routine bridge inspection

• I-95 Northbound and Southbound at Exit 148 (Quantico)
  • 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Northbound single lane closure for construction  
  • 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. – Southbound single lane closure for construction

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Overnight travelers on Interstate 95 should plan ahead to avoid major delays with multiple work zones scheduled this week near the Fredericksburg area for ongoing construction and maintenance projects on the interstate.

Starting at 10 p.m. tonight, I-95 northbound will be reduced to one lane as crews continue milling and paving the travel lanes on I-95 northbound in Caroline County north of the exit 104 (Carmel Church) interchange.

In Spotsylvania County, single lane closures are needed near the exit 118 (Thornburg) and exit 126 (Spotsylvania) interchanges to allow crews to conduct a routine safety inspection of the I-95 overpasses.

Tomorrow night, Aug. 10, I-95 northbound will be reduced to one lane near the exit 148 (Quantico) interchange as construction progresses on the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project in Stafford County. A full traffic stop is also needed later this week to allow crews to safely move a crane across the travel lanes near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).

All I-95 northbound traffic near Exit 136 will be stopped intermittently between midnight and 3 a.m. early Friday, Aug. 13. All northbound traffic may be stopped up to 30 minutes.

o 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. – Single lane closure

• I-95 Northbound at Exit 148 (Quantico)
o 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure

Thursday, Aug. 12 – Friday, Aug. 13
• I-95 Northbound at Exit 104 (Carmel Church) and Exit 110 (Ladysmith)
o 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. – Mobile operation with double lane closure

• I-95 Southbound at Exit 130 (Route 3)
o 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. – Single lane closure

• I-95 Northbound at Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)
o 9 p.m. – 10 p.m. – Single lane closure
o 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
o Midnight – 3 a.m. – Full Traffic Stop up to 30 minutes
o 4:30 a.m. – All northbound lanes open

o 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. – Single lane closure
