OVERNIGHT FULL TRAFFIC STOPS SCHEDULED ON ROUTE 17 IN STAFFORD COUNTY
All Route 17 traffic near I-95 will be stopped intermittently tonight, April 5, to move a crane
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – All Route 17 traffic near Interstate 95 will be stopped intermittently overnight to move a crane in Stafford County.
Starting at 8 p.m. tonight, April 5, the right lane on Route 17 southbound between Sanford Drive and Short Street will close to get equipment into place ahead of the full traffic stops.
All Route 17 southbound traffic will be stopped up to 15 minutes between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. early Tuesday, April 6, to move a crane from the shoulder across the southbound travel lanes to the median as construction advances on the future I-95 southbound bridge over Route 17 as part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.
After crews move the crane to the median, all Route 17 northbound traffic will then be stopped up to 15 minutes to move the crane across the northbound travel lanes to the shoulder.
Weather permitting, lane closures are scheduled at the following times:
Monday, April 5 – Tuesday, April 6
• 8 p.m. – 10:59 p.m. – Single lane closure on Route 17 southbound
• 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. – Full traffic stop up to 15 minutes on Route 17 southbound then northbound
• 3 a.m. – All lanes open
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control in the work zone.
