FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Drivers should plan ahead for travel on Interstate 95 with planned daytime and overnight lane closures in the Fredericksburg area for Improve 95 program construction.

I-95 northbound and southbound will be reduced to one travel lane beginning at 10 p.m. each evening this week at various locations between exit 130 (Route 3) in the City of Fredericksburg and exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County.

Milling and paving operations will resume on I-95 Northbound in Spotsylvania County and Caroline County.

Starting at 9 p.m. tomorrow night, Sept. 14 and Wednesday, Sept. 15, the I-95 Northbound Safety Rest Area in Ladysmith will close overnight to allow crews to safely pave the rest area’s ramps and merge areas. The entrance to the Safety Rest Area will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to check 511Virginia.org for real-time information on lane closures, work zones, traffic and other incidents on 511Virginia.

Message boards will also be posted along I-95 to alert motorists to delays ahead.
