COURTHOUSE ROAD IN STAFFORD COUNTY TO BE DETOURED DEC. 7-10
Courthouse Rd. will be closed from Ramoth Church Road/Winding Creek Road to Monument Drive/Walpole Street on Monday, Dec. 7 through Thursday, Dec. 10 for an emergency drainage pipe replacement
DECEMEBER 6, 2020 UPDATE: Due to the potential for inclement weather on Monday morning, a planned road closure and detour on Route 630 (Courthouse Road) for an emergency pipe replacement has been postponed to now begin around 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, and conclude by late afternoon on Friday, Dec. 11.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 630 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County will be closed to through traffic between the intersection of Ramoth Church Road/Winding Creek Road and Monument Drive/Walpole Street for an emergency drainage pipe replacement on Monday, Dec. 7 through Thursday, Dec. 10.
Detour signs will be posted to guide motorists along the recommended detour route for passenger vehicles:
- Route 648 (Shelton Shop Road)
- Route 627 (Mountain View Road)
- Route 651 (Kellogg Mill Road)
- Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road)
Truck traffic should use the following detour route to access Courthouse Road:
- Route 648 (Shelton Shop Road)
- Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
- Route 684 (Mine Road)
The detour is anticipated to be effective starting at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, and will be in place until late afternoon on Thursday, Dec. 10.
Message boards are being posted today to notify motorists of the upcoming detour.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will replace a deteriorated corrugated metal drainage pipe that is located underneath Courthouse Road. The metal pipe is being replaced with a new, plastic 48-inch drainage pipe.
During the work zone, traffic will be permitted to access streets and driveway entrances that intersect with Courthouse Road between Ramoth Church Road/Winding Creek Road and Monument Drive/Walpole Street.
