OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES ADDED TO NORRIS BRIDGE INSPECTION SCHEDULE
Drivers to expect a single lane closure Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and overnight lane closures and brief traffic stops Monday – Thursday, 8:30 p.m. - 3 a.m.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation has added additional work hours to the Robert O. Norris Bridge inspection schedule to include overnight hours with brief traffic stops of up to 20 minutes at a time.
Lane closures and delays on the Route 3 bridge over the Rappahannock River have been limited to daytime hours since the annual routine bridge inspection began earlier this month. Beginning Monday, Oct. 21, inspections will be expanded to include daytime and overnight delays. Overnight lane closures will include brief traffic stops of up to 20 minutes at a time.
Drivers should expect the following delays on the Norris Bridge next week:
Monday, Oct. 21 – Friday, Oct. 25 (Daytime hours)
8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
One-way, alternating traffic
Monday, Oct. 21 – Thursday, October 24 (Overnight hours)
8:30 p.m. – 3 a.m.
One-way, alternating traffic and up to seven total traffic stops for up to 20 minutes at a time.
All lanes will be open at 3 a.m., Friday, Oct. 25. There will be no overnight closures on Friday night.
An automated flagging device will be used to direct drivers through the work zone.
The Robert O. Norris Bridge crosses the Rappahannock River and connects Lancaster and Middlesex counties.
