FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A resurfacing project to improve the travel surface on Route 3 between Route 33 and Route 198 near the John Andrew Twigg Bridge will continue this Saturday, and next week through Friday, June 21.

The Twigg Bridge crosses the Piankatank River and connects Middlesex and Mathews counties.

Drivers can expect a single lane closure for milling and paving work on Route 3 from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, and during these hours on Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21, weather permitting.

No work is scheduled for Sunday, June 16.

Flaggers will be used to direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone. Motorists may encounter a rough driving surface in the work zone during the milling operation. 

Crews are not milling and paving on the Twigg Bridge. Resurfacing work will be underway on a 3.2-mile section of Route 3 in Middlesex between the bridge and Route 33, and on a section slightly less than one mile between the bridge and Dixie Drive in Mathews.
