FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Service on the Merry Point Ferry in Lancaster County has been suspended today due to an engine malfunction, and the ferry will remain out of service on Saturday, June 29.

Crews are assessing the vessel's engine to develop a repair plan and timeline. In addition to canceling Saturday service, the Merry Point Ferry does not operate on Sundays or Mondays.

Travelers are encouraged to check 511Virginia for real-time information on the ferry’s operational status for Tuesday, July 2.

The Merry Point Ferry is a free ferry service operated by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Located on scenic byway Route 604 (Merry Point Road and Ottoman Ferry Road), it crosses the western end of the Corrotoman River.
