I-95 LANE CLOSURES THIS WEEK IN FREDERICKSBURG
Expect single lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound for Improve95 projects on Monday, April 15 through early Friday, April 19
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Interstate 95 travelers should anticipate daytime and overnight work zones on I-95 northbound and southbound this week in the Fredericksburg area for construction activities underway for Improve95 projects.
- I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing
- I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension, also known as “Fred Ex”
Weather permitting, the following lane closures are scheduled starting today, Monday April 15, through early Friday, April 19.
I-95 Northbound and Southbound
Exit 148 (Quantico Marine Corps Base) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)
- Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.
Be alert to overnight shoulder closures on I-95 northbound and I-95 southbound at various locations between Exit 148 (Quantico Marine Corps Base) in Prince William County and Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County for geotechnical boring work for the future I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
I-95 Southbound
Exit 148 (Quantico Marine Corps Base)
- Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m.
- Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
Expect alternating single lane closures on I-95 southbound between Exit 148 (Quantico) to mile marker 146 for geotechnical boring work for the future I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg)
- Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m.
- Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
Expect alternating single lane closures and shoulder closures on I-95 southbound from mile marker 135, just south of Exit 136/Centreport Parkway in Stafford County, to Exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg for construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing.
Exit 118 (Route 606/Thornburg) in Spotsylvania County and the Safety Rest Area at Ladysmith in Caroline County
- Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 southbound between mile marker 117, just south of Exit 118/Thornburg, as far south as mile marker 108 in Caroline County, near the Safety Rest Area at Ladysmith. This is a mobile operation in the right southbound lane. Crews will be collecting pavement samples to check for pavement depth and condition.
I-95 Northbound
Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) in Stafford County
- Monday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 northbound near Exit 133, just north of the Rappahannock River bridge in Stafford.
Expect heavy truck traffic between mile marker 132 and mile marker 134. Be alert to trucks slowing down to enter or exit the median at various construction entrances throughout the work zone. The work zone is needed for construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing.
Exit 148 (Quantico Marine Corps Base)
- Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 northbound near Exit 148 (Quantico Marine Corps Base) in Prince William County for geotechnical boring work for the future I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
