I-95 LANE CLOSURES NEAR FREDERICKSBURG
Expect double and single lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound for Improve95 projects starting tonight, April 1
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Drivers should anticipate daytime and overnight work zones on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound in the Fredericksburg area with numerous construction activities for several Improve95 projects.
- I-95 at Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) Reconfiguration and Widening Project
- I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing
- I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension, also known as “Fred Ex”
Weather permitting, the following lane closures are scheduled starting tonight, April 1, which include overnight double lane closures at Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County:
I-95 Southbound
Exit 148 (Quantico)
- Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m.
- Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
- Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 southbound near Exit 148/Quantico in Prince William County for geotechnical boring work for the future I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road)
- Monday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
On Monday and Tuesday evenings, I-95 southbound will be reduced to two lanes at 9 p.m. and a single lane between 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. to allow crews to remove overhead work platforms used to build the new I-95 overpasses.
Near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg)
- Monday– Thursday, 9m. – 10 a.m.
- Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
- Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Expect alternating single lane closures on I-95 southbound from mile marker 135, just south of Exit 136/Centreport Parkway in Stafford County to Exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg for construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing and for the future Interstate 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
I-95 Northbound
Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County)
- Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
- Friday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m. Saturday
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 northbound at Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg) in Fredericksburg, and at mile marker 135, just before Exit 136/Centreport Parkway in Stafford County. The lane closure is needed for preliminary engineering work for the future Interstate 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) in Stafford County
- Monday – Thursday, 9:30m. – 3:30 p.m.
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 northbound near Exit 133, just north of the Rappahannock River bridge in Stafford. Expect heavy truck traffic between mile marker 132 and mile marker 134. Be alert to trucks slowing down to enter or exit the median at various construction entrances throughout the work zone. The work zone is needed for construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing.
Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road)
- Tuesday – Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Wednesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
Expect a daytime single lane closure on I-95 northbound near Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road) in Stafford County for construction activities with the Exit 140 diverging diamond interchange project.
On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, I-95 northbound will be reduced to two lanes at 9 p.m. and a single lane between 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. to allow crews to remove overhead work platforms used to build the new I-95 overpasses.
Message boards will warn drivers to stay alert for the work zones ahead and possible delays.
