EXPECT DELAYS AT NORRIS BRIDGE ON MONDAY, DEC. 23
Route 3 over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties will be reduced to a single lane from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 3 traffic crossing the Robert O. Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties can anticipate brief daytime travel delays on Monday, Dec. 23.
Route 3 will be reduced to a single lane on the Norris Bridge from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Automated flagging assistance devices will direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone, assisted by a certified flagging crew.
Crews are installing equipment to help the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) gather data on the weight of vehicles crossing the Norris Bridge and any associated impacts to the bridge condition. This information will be used to help VDOT plan routine bridge maintenance. The equipment being installed Monday is connected with vehicle weight monitoring equipment installed at the Lancaster bridge approach in fall 2019.
The Norris Bridge has a posted weight limit of 45 tons.
