CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation is warning drivers to watch for slick spots on the area’s roads starting tonight and into Monday morning. The winter storm is exiting Piedmont Virginia and all roads in the nine counties of VDOT’s Culpeper District are clear of snow.

Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing after dark. Any moisture remaining on the roads may freeze and drivers should use caution driving overnight Sunday and early Monday morning.

VDOT crews will be on duty overnight and will respond to any reports of refreezing or icing. Refreezing and black ice are most likely on bridges, overpasses, ramps, intersections and roads at higher elevations near the Blue Ridge Mountains.
