RT. 647 BRIDGE PROJECT REOPENS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
South Anna River bridge opens to traffic about three weeks early

CULPEPER — The Route 647 (Harts Mill Road) bridge over the South Anna River in Louisa County reopened to traffic Thursday afternoon — about three weeks ahead of schedule.

VDOT contractor Fairfield-Echols, LLC of Fishersville replaced the 89-year-old truss bridge. The new bridge is open to all legal-weight vehicles.

The bridge was closed on Jan. 29 and was scheduled to reopen on Sept. 22.
