CULPEPER — Major highways across the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Culpeper District are mostly clear of ice but early morning drivers may encounter black ice conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, ramps and crossovers. With temperatures hovering around freezing the precipitation that fell overnight may ice over before temperatures rise later this morning.

Interstate 64 in Albemarle and Louisa County and I-66 in Fauquier County are both clear. Primary routes in Fluvanna, Louisa, Orange and Rappahannock counties. Primaries in Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene and Madison counties are mostly clear but drivers may encounter patches of ice. Secondary roads are also mostly clear but patches of ice and frozen slush are likely.

VDOT crews have completed treating the interstates and primary highways and are working on treating secondary roads. Drivers who must travel early Tuesday should plan extra travel time and drive for the conditions by reducing speed and increasing the distance between their vehicle and others on the road.
