RT. 726 BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT BEGINS JULY 7
Road closed to through traffic, follow posted detour

CULPEPER — A project to replace the 88-year-old Route 726 (James River Road) bridge over Totier Creek in the Scottsville area of Albemarle County will begin next week.

Starting July 7, Route 726 will be closed to through traffic at the bridge. During the closure, drivers will detour via Route 627 (James River Road), Route 626 (Langhorne Road) and Route 6 (Irish Road).

Under a $1.1 million construction contract, Kanawha Stone Company, Inc. of Nitro, W.Va. will replace the existing one-lane timber deck bridge. The new bridge will have a concrete deck and accommodate two lanes of traffic.

The project’s fixed completion date is April 5, 2021.
