NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN OCT. 5 AT ROUTE 53-618
Drivers should reduce speed, plan extra travel time and expect flagging operations

CULPEPER — Motorists will notice a new traffic pattern on Oct. 5 at the intersection of Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) and Route 618 (Lake Monticello Road) in Fluvanna County.

Drivers should expect weekday flagging operations on Route 53 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Route 618.

Motorists should pay attention to work zone signs and other traffic controls and be prepared to stop.

Under a $2.2 million construction contract, Chemung Contracting Corp. is converting the existing “T” intersection to a single-lane roundabout. Construction will be complete by Nov. 17.
