ONE WESTBOUND LANE OPENS APRIL 17 ON RT. 211/522
Contractor nearing completion on bridge rehabilitation project
CULPEPER — Rappahannock County motorists traveling on Route 211/522 (Lee Highway) will soon notice a new traffic pattern on the bridge over the North Fork Thornton River. The bridge project is nearly complete almost a month ahead of schedule.
On April 17, the contractor will open the westbound right lane on the Route 211/522 bridge and close the temporary diversion. Westbound drivers have used the eastbound left lane while the westbound bridge was rehabilitated.
The westbound left lane will remain closed while the median crossover and temporary diversion is removed. All lanes are anticipated to be open by the end of the month.
Drivers are advised to use caution in both directions near the bridge while crews finish removing the crossover and diversion.
Since September 2018, Virginia Department of Transportation contractor Fairfield-Echols, LLC has worked under a $1,641,123 construction contract to rehabilitate the westbound Route 211/522 bridge.
