Temporary closure of Route 604 (Poplar Gap Road) scheduled for April 12
New portions of Hoot Owl Road, Stable Drive opening in conjunction with the closure
BRISTOL – Beginning April 12 and lasting approximately 12 months, a portion of Route 604 (Poplar Creek Road) in Buchanan County will be closed due to construction of new Corridor Q: Route 460/121 Poplar Creek Phase A.
For traffic traveling south on Route 604 from Route 460, the closure will be located near the new Wonderland Road tie-in. For traffic traveling north on Route 604 from Poplar Gap Park, the closure will be at the newly constructed intersection of Route 615 (Hoot Owl Road) and Stable Drive.
New Hoot Owl Road will open to traffic and will serve as the Poplar Creek Road North detour.
Additionally, new Stable Drive will open with a gravel surface until paving occurs in early May.
Motorists are advised to pay close attention to signs directing traffic around the area while the Poplar Creek Road closure is in place.
The closure is necessary to construct new Corridor Q: Route 460/121 Poplar Creek Phase A, a two-lane, limited access highway that will have truck climbing lanes where needed and is located between new Route 460/121 Hawks Nest section (constructed to rough grade) and Poplar Creek Road. Poplar Creek Phase A is approximately three miles long. (END)
