Matticks serving as VDOT Wise Residency Administrator

BRISTOL – Paul Matticks recently joined the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Bristol District as the Wise Residency Administrator.

Matticks joined VDOT in 2011 as the Northern Virginia Safety Manager. In 2018, he was promoted to Assistant Resident Administrator for the VDOT Fairfax Residency. He also served temporarily as Acting Resident Administrator for the Fairfax Residency.

As VDOT Wise Residency Administrator, Matticks will be responsible for overseeing the residency’s $20 million maintenance budget and the residencies 120 employees and nine facilities. The Wise Residency services over 2,500 miles of roads in Wise, Dickenson, Scott and Lee counties.

Prior to his employment with VDOT, Matticks worked in the private sector in Pennsylvania for 14 years as a project manager and safety director on numerous civil and DOT projects.

Paul is a 1988 graduate of Wilkes University in Pennsylvania with a degree in public administration.

Paul and his wife, Kathy Jo, and their daughter, Zoe, currently reside in Abingdon. Paul’s son, Zak, is a VDOT Equipment Operator in Leesburg.   (END)
