Information meeting scheduled for Interstate 81 Frontage Road Study
February 7 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center
BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a meeting in February to provide information on an Interstate 81 Frontage Road study that is underway.
The information meeting will be held Thursday, February 7 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, located at One Partnership Circle in Abingdon.
The purpose of the meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review preliminary study information and to provide comments to assist Washington County, the Town of Abingdon and VDOT in identifying and potentially developing a frontage road system that will maintain the safe and efficient movement of people and goods along I-81 between Bristol and Abingdon.
VDOT encourages all interested citizens to attend the information meeting. To give citizens more flexibility in their participation, there will be no formal presentation. Instead, citizens will be able to review information with VDOT representatives at their convenience anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Also, citizens will have an opportunity to record verbal comments during the meeting. Written comments will be accepted during the meeting or may be submitted to VDOT by February 17, 2019. Mail comments to Mr. Blake Ailor, Project Manager, 870 Bonham Road, Bristol, Virginia 24201. Or, email comments to bristolinfo@vdot.virginia.gov, referencing “I-81 Frontage Road Study Bristol/Abingdon” in the email subject line.
